How to Become a Published
Author In as Little as a Day
Why everyone should have a book…
- People place a high value on books.
- Authors are held in very high regard.
- Experts write books and experts are paid more…often a LOT more.
A published book…
- Establishes your authority
- Establishes your credibility
- Establishes your celebrity
- Establishes your expertise
This allows you to charge higher fees, attract higher donations and makes you a “go to” expert for media interviews and speaking engagements.
“Done properly, a book can change your business and income forever.” – Dan Kennedy
3 reasons why people hesitate to write a book…
1.) You just don’t like writing
2.) You don’t think you’re a good writer
3.) You don’t have the time to write a book
The average person can write about 400-500 words per hour – and the average author takes 200 hours to write his or her book. But it doesn’t have to be that way…
The little-known secret to “writing” your book in as little as ONE DAY!
1.) Write an outline (chapters) for the book’s content
2.) Be interviewed about the subject and answer in your own words
3.) Have the interview recorded
4.) Have the recording transcribed
5.) Have the transcription edited
How to use your book for maximum advantage…
- As the ultimate business card
- To generate new leads and prospects
- As a high-value premium or gift (especially when autographed)
- For high-end networking
- To get free publicity through media interviews
- To get paid speaking engagements
“A book is a brochure that’ll never be thrown away.” – Dr. Jeffrey Lant
Books vs. e-Books
1.) A book is something tangible that you can hold in your hands and have widely accepted value. People automatically place a specific price figure on a book. There’s no such automatic, widely-accepted value perceived for an online e-book or special report.
2.) You can’t use an e-book in person-to-person meetings. You can’t “autograph” an e-book. Human nature places higher value on a physical product.
3.) There’s no “thump factor” – sound made when dropping a book on a table – with a special report.
4.) People almost NEVER throw away a book. They might not read it. They might just put in on a bookshelf. They might give it to a friend. They might donate it to the local library. But books rarely are ever thrown away. Not so with special reports or printing out e-books.
Book Marketing Strategies
“The worst way to make money as an author is selling copies of your book.” – Dan Kennedy
1.) Determine who your targeted market is: Men or women? Young or old? College educated or high school grad? Wealthy or middle class? Etc.
2.) Clearly define the benefits to your targeted market of reading your book. What’s in it for the reader (not the author). Identify your prospect’s biggest source(s) of agitation and address it in your book title and sub-title. (example: “Worry-Free Retirement: Do What You Want, When You Want, Where You Want”)
3.) Determine who the “influencers” – with large followings or customer base – are in your business or industry and think of ways to feature them in your book as “examples” to better position yourself to have them purchase and promote your book to their people.
